Energy

The whole house is served by one reversible air to water unit. It is sized from the heat loss calculated after the fabric work, not from the house as it stands today, so the fabric numbers come first. A semi is allowed one outdoor unit under permitted development, which is why there is no separate air to air system.

Downstairs runs on underfloor heating, upstairs on radiators, both sized for low flow temperatures. Cooling is the same unit running in reverse. Wet floors and radiators cannot carry it, so fan coils in the master bedroom and the cinema do.

The cylinder, 250 to 300 litres, sits in the engine room alongside the MVHR unit and the manifolds. The existing boiler stays through winter 2026/27 and the gas supply is removed once the pump has proved itself.
